THANK YOU to all those who attended my communications seminar at Bulleen recently on June 2.

It was great to meet so many of the Brothers and to talk to you about how we can use the medium of the Internet to help promote the mission of the Marist faith here in Australia.

For those that attended I trust that the eResource CD-ROM I made assists you in making progress using the Internet to its’ full potential.

…my first ask

As this blog will be revealed to most of the Marist Melbourne Province community at the June Bulleen meeting, I will take the opportunity to ask that as many Brothers and Lay partners consider loging in and posting any contributions that give an insight into the Marist experience.

As the ‘I’m Marist’ is being developed I feel we can keep this initial level of the blog an open community blog with secure user-name entry only necessary with an increase in traffic.

Blog entries can be literally anything that takes you at the time. What I am trying to encourage is an online journal that has some on-the-ground snapshots of what it’s like to be a Marist which profiles the Marist Brother journey.

HI. I’VE BEGUN working with the Marist Vocations team & the Australian Marist Brothers in the new role of part-time Communications Officer based in Adelaide at Aquinas College. I’m pleased to be working with Brother Rod Thomson and the Melbourne Vocations team to broaden awareness of the vital work done by the Marist community both in Australia and overseas – as well as growing participation in Marist Australian activities & vocations.

Having a social justice background and working with member-based development agencies such as Community Aid Abroad (Oxfam) I am aware how crucial it is to promote communications within an organisation so as to maximize campaign involvement & general media interest. In the next twelve months I certainly plan to beat the drum about the Marist faith & mission as well as the extraordinary contributions being made locally & overseas right now. But I do need the help of the Marist community also.If you have news or events that you want to share with either the Marist community or the Australian media please submit any items to me & I will do my best to promote these.
